The Science Behind Mantra

Mantra

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe,
think in terms of energy, frequency & vibration”
~Nikola Tesla.

Way before Tesla quoted this, our ancestors knew this 5000 years ago. The Vedic texts were known as Shruti, meaning ‘that which is heard’. Sanskrit is not a created language it is a language deciphered from natural sounds. Every scripture on the planet talks about this. Let us get an understanding of a Mantra, the word Mantra is derived from 2 words Manas meaning mind & tra means tool so it literally translates as a tool for the mind. A Mantra is a mathematically correct sound. Our ancestors deciphered certain key sounds in the universe through introspection and insight. Those sounds were arranged in a specific manner for a specific objective. It is a well-known fact today that AUM the ekakshari mantra was the real sound of the big bang. AUM is an amalgamation of 3 sounds basically AA, UU & UMMM! This traveled across the world and took various other forms like AMEN & AMIN. If we do not have a tongue the only 3 sounds that we can utter are these 3, if uttered together they form AUM.

Here’s Sadhguru explaining the Science behind chanting AUM.

Everything in the universe vibrates at a particular frequency, according to our ancestors every vibration is associated with a seed sound. According to quantum physics also this is true. These facts are not religious. Sounds have been used in various forms to heal and grow in all parts of the world. If we reflect on Tesla’s words we can see it manifesting here. 5000 years ago we had the technology to infuse a sound with energy and lock it, which unless received by a Live Guru this won’t be working for us. If you have done a fork and tong experiment in school you would be familiar with coherent frequency and dissonance frequency similar to a ripple in the water. The same principle in practice works for a mantra. The repetition of mantra indicates the coherent frequency that will have a rippling effect across space-time which will attract the objective of it. There is a whole science called Nada yoga wherein when you utter a sound, a form is being created. We can create powerful forms by uttering sounds in certain arrangements. If you have mastery over the sound you also have mastery over the form that is attached to it.

Mantras can be effectively used to create certain vibrations which in turn creates an ambiance for the energy form to be created. They can be used as keys to open a different dimension of existence which is yet not in our experience. With practice and clarity in utterance, a mantra can produce healing effects in the body and mind. In Yoga, the mind is also perceived as a sheath over the body, every cell in the system has a mind of its own, which is called Manomaya Kosha. This mind affects the physical body in various ways. Mantras are used to clear the clutter in the mind and make it single pointed that is to focus on one particular thing which in turn organizes the entire system to be in sync with the energy that’s been transmitted through the sound.

Today as we are influenced by Western societies, our cultured minds need everything to be backed up by western science, but we tend to forget that India has been a pioneer and it has created a platform on which western science has built its empire. For eg: Zero was given to the world by Us, the first surgery was conducted in India. The world’s most ancient and advanced civilizations have been excavated from this land. I believe western science is still taking baby steps to its maturity towards its liberation. I cannot elaborate more on this. I believe this article should inspire and ignite your minds to delve into the treasures that our ancestors have preserved for 1000s of years and in turn continue the legacy that India has been to the world.
